Beaten, Starved, Neglected... Shilo needs your help!

The Pup'parel team heard about the plight of Shilo -- a dog, only 11 months old, that had been beaten, starved and neglected to the point of being only hours from certain death. A kind but impoverished person who was going to spend the little money he had to have her euthanized, rather than allow her to suffer anymore. Razzy, Pup'parel's CFO insisted on sharing some of his kibble, and Bozie told the Pup'mom that she had to help this girl just like she helped him. So Joe and Lisa jumped in the car and went to get Shilo. She was so weak that she couldn't stand, and she was bleeding from a uterine infection and a breast infection. They called one of the local veterinarians in Somerset, KY who agreed to meet them at his office on Saturday afternoon (after office hours) on July 12, 2008. The vet said that if Joe and Lisa hadn't stepped in, Shilo would have been covered in maggots in hours and dead by morning -- at that point, he wasn't sure that we weren't too late to save her! He ran bloodwork, started IV antibiotics, offered a little food (Too much food in her severely weakened state would have been a bad thing), and hospitalized her.
We waited and worried until Sunday, when the good doctor called to let us know that she was doing better and that she could come home to continue her recovery on Monday. So, Jess, Joe and Lisa have been taking turns nursing her. Onyo-Husky-Bandit-Dog donated his house to be her hospital crate. Pup'parel donated two new pup'placemats and some blankets (which Lisa washes daily). Once a 100-lb dog, Shilo is now only 45 lbs, has a severe uterine infection and mastitis. She gets anti-biotics, pain medication and shots to settle her stomach every day. She has trouble keeping food down, but as of Friday, July 17, her bloodwork was substancially better, and she has gotten siginficantly stronger. We're certain that with a lot of love and a little care, she will pull through and be a healthy girl once again! Shilo had 10 puppies 3 weeks and 6 days prior to her rescue. Only 7 of the litter survived, most were given away (by the dummy [kind term] that starved her) far too early to be weened, and the the Pup'parel team is also caring for one of her little girls appropriately named "Lucky".
We need your help to pay for Shilo's vet bills. So far, the costs are over $1000.00, and that doesn't include refills on her medicine or spaying her once she is strong enough to undergo surgery.
You can help by selecting "Shilo's Fund" at check out -- a full 10% of your purchase price will be donated by Pup'parel to the Shilo Fund. You can also donate directly to the Shilo Fund without purchasing any additional items by selecting an amount in the box at below, then clicking on the shopping cart. You can donate by credit card, pay-pal, check or money order. Of course, you can also choose to donate directly to Shilo AND make a purchase by choosing to continue to shop after adding your donation to your shopping cart.
Thank you for helping Shilo!
Update 7/19/08: Sadly, as much as we tried to save her, Shilo was too far gone -- she underwent emergency surgery on 7/19 to try to minimize the her infection by spaying her... she didn't survive the surgery. Still, any help you can give to help the Pup'parel pups pay the good doctor would be truly appreciated! With your help, one day, we may be able to help another suffering dog.
